We will be delving deeper into the wonderful world of watercolor. I love the way watercolor can capture a particular light and mood. The fluidity and transparency of the medium. The unexpected and convenience of a hands on experience.</span></p><p><span style="color: #cc0000; font-size: medium;">For more information: </span><a href="https://www.sgfmuseum.org/161/Adult-Studio-Classes">https://www.sgfmuseum.org/161/Adult-Studio-Classes</a></p><p><span style="color: #660000;">Experimenting with gouache has been so much fun. I often add some gouache to my watercolor painting, so I purchased a Holbein Gouache set and had fun experimenting. Often times, adding some watercolor to the mix. I had a few mini hard boards and primed them with clear gesso before painting. Changing and experimenting with new paints and methods is always beneficial and fun. Taking a break from watercolors, I fell in love with these paints and this medium.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiA13NU3G46Qqc3y6Zqc0wAHSlsRjj8iHqKv8IrfL_47xRxM38NcHvrGIGDuBFksxxUjYqdYPVg-1-kLPsG4qPbJXvj3xif4OcnrN-cCta1S193GMeIUjMpRxaFqcTCa5XCkyXYvnMmi_wqOSJbAkmHG5TGY6t-aeZaMsQJU1ffkU2eJbPxk70aOU6AnMA/s1456/IMG_5174.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1456" data-original-width="1440" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiA13NU3G46Qqc3y6Zqc0wAHSlsRjj8iHqKv8IrfL_47xRxM38NcHvrGIGDuBFksxxUjYqdYPVg-1-kLPsG4qPbJXvj3xif4OcnrN-cCta1S193GMeIUjMpRxaFqcTCa5XCkyXYvnMmi_wqOSJbAkmHG5TGY6t-aeZaMsQJU1ffkU2eJbPxk70aOU6AnMA/s320/IMG_5174.jpg" width="316" /></a></div><br /><p>This was my first attempt and really enjoyed the process. I shared it on my Youtube channel so you can see the progress and paint along with me.</p><p> It is quick drying and requires no mediums. I did prep my board with clear gesso before I began to paint. Because it is water based, you will always see the color underneath. That is what I like about it! </p><p>Gouache is an opaque watercolor, consisting of natural pigment, water and a binding agent. It is similar to watercolor and may be used alongside watercolors. I have added gouache to several of my watercolor paintings through the years. It is most commonly used by illustrators, graphic designers and for commercial use.</p><p>Henri Matisse used gouache on white paper during his last decade. It has been widely used during the last 12 centuries.</p><p>I do love the consistency of the Holbein brand of gouache. </p><p>Here is a little peek at the last one I painted a few hours ago and inspired by Matisse style of painting.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEii3v1x6uiF7edXeY-GAfHMqxHtTSNVf9QTxD9J9MCQMiXItU3rPeCGc7693E8odQJqrKhBAsjWUIpNmpGskOaiNeP3wKdWNjHFWcyx2NKPOic8zMsx21ZUBey86NEEBnODN41iFfvkwpkIwZ5IfJCsoaGeheS7z9zRPpzEQbZdBfrqF0UBuXOGgDjciW0/s3105/IMG_0595.HEIC" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3105" data-original-width="2998" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEii3v1x6uiF7edXeY-GAfHMqxHtTSNVf9QTxD9J9MCQMiXItU3rPeCGc7693E8odQJqrKhBAsjWUIpNmpGskOaiNeP3wKdWNjHFWcyx2NKPOic8zMsx21ZUBey86NEEBnODN41iFfvkwpkIwZ5IfJCsoaGeheS7z9zRPpzEQbZdBfrqF0UBuXOGgDjciW0/s320/IMG_0595.HEIC" width="309" /></a></div><p>If you have tried it, let me know your thoughts. </p><p><br /></p><p>Have fun!</p><p><span style="color: #a64d79;">Until next time.</span></p><p><span style="color: #a64d79;">Ursula xo</span></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p>Ursula Wollenberghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16874880375868246072noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8289894434924242531.post-24027026260220024102023-04-29T08:54:00.000-07:002023-04-29T08:54:00.166-07:00Brighter Days Ahead<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_Qt1Mudq6uLoHK7VFumZ0NQQVWhyoOrNmLtIvnrpXtzJnqVTt9OgfSDmAu0oUzM8WbX9LIy1e7EvheYOg8v1qhHQvGwKb9YZAhWcTwpDllcyfTpUtLoyIb08GahWSNRmBF-XzmCbxDj4WG-Eu9BpXM8Va1Zd1K-cAo-z7hqHLIh0Xx0YHeHVgcL4I/s2880/IMG-9723.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2880" data-original-width="2160" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_Qt1Mudq6uLoHK7VFumZ0NQQVWhyoOrNmLtIvnrpXtzJnqVTt9OgfSDmAu0oUzM8WbX9LIy1e7EvheYOg8v1qhHQvGwKb9YZAhWcTwpDllcyfTpUtLoyIb08GahWSNRmBF-XzmCbxDj4WG-Eu9BpXM8Va1Zd1K-cAo-z7hqHLIh0Xx0YHeHVgcL4I/s320/IMG-9723.jpg" width="240" /></a>The Iris reminds us of Faith and Hope. Our annual trip on the beautiful beach of Navarre. We were gone a little over 4 weeks. We walked at least 2-4 miles at a time. Such a calming effect as your feet touch the warm sand and the sound of the waves lesson all your anxieties. But, what does the word really mean? </p><p>The dictionary defines it as bringing something into existence. Or, cause something to happen as a result of one's actions. </p><p>We are all "created" to create, to bring something into existence. Whether it be raising our children, hitting a ball, cooking a meal, navigating through a problem, communication, putting an outfit together, decorating our home, parenting and so on.</p><p>We use our creativity even if we aren't aware. </p><p>Stephen Brewster says to "Create something new everyday". the Bible references creativity 41 times'!</p><p>Exodus 35:31-35 God fills us with His Spirit to do creative and artistic things for his glory. </p><p>"He instills in each of us our own unique and distinct creative expression". </p><p>I think many times, we (myself included). are afraid to step out and use the creative gifts God has given us. </p><p>This has hit home with me. I purchased some student quality watercolor paper from a local shop going out of business.<div><br /><div>I thought it would work well for practice and for demos.</div><div><br /></div><div>I haven't painted watercolor portraits in a while, so got my student grade papers out and began to paint.</div><div><br /></div><div>I kept losing color and my color washes quickly disappeared almost as soon as I put them down. It hasn't been easy as we navigated though another year of uncertainty and change. I don't know about you, but I am ready for a new beginning and have hope for this coming year.<p></p><p>For the past few years, I have chosen a word to carry me through the year. I print it out and put it on my bulletin board, above my computer where I can see it everyday. My word for this year is: "<span style="color: #800180;">Reimagine".</span></p><p><span style="color: #800180;">I think it somewhat appropriate in light of the past two years. I heard this word more than once and knew it was for me. It means to imagine, conceive, reevaluate, redefine, or create something in a new way. </span></p><p><span style="color: #800180;">As I continue on my artist journey, I want to redefine my work and continue on the path of creative growth. </span></p><p><span style="color: #800180;">These past two years have taught me to appreciate the smaller things, creating more balance in my daily life. </span></p><p><span style="color: #800180;">I wish you a year reimagined and full of love to carry your though 2022!</span></p><p><span style="color: #800180;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="color: #800180;">Ursula</span></p><p><span style="color: #800180;">xo</span></p><p><span style="color: #800180;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="color: #800180;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="color: #800180;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="color: #800180;"><br /></span></p>Ursula Wollenberghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16874880375868246072noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8289894434924242531.post-72063698847320269302021-11-27T11:20:00.001-08:002021-11-28T05:08:45.082-08:00<h2 style="text-align: left;"><span style="color: #990000;"><span style="caret-color: rgb(153, 0, 0);">Happiest of Holidays!</span></span></h2><div><span style="color: #990000;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-nQHI1fh-B4o/YaJ8Q1vwFkI/AAAAAAAADsk/foFEZBuyZckmqxQK3ttrwVvoob_xPGZiACLcBGAsYHQ/IMG_4334.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="1970" data-original-width="2048" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-nQHI1fh-B4o/YaJ8Q1vwFkI/AAAAAAAADsk/foFEZBuyZckmqxQK3ttrwVvoob_xPGZiACLcBGAsYHQ/IMG_4334.jpeg" width="250" /></a></div><br />Where has the time gone? Sharing those gifts with those around us. Our gifts are beautiful and unique. I love this quote below:</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dsxAi-i85oU/YR5-dN4zfTI/AAAAAAAADnU/OK4xVHdCR-AAdrE2c93rSuacCq60oZPPgCLcBGAsYHQ/s575/rosebud-bloom-and-share.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="383" data-original-width="575" height="213" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dsxAi-i85oU/YR5-dN4zfTI/AAAAAAAADnU/OK4xVHdCR-AAdrE2c93rSuacCq60oZPPgCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/rosebud-bloom-and-share.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div>Love is a gift, a daily practice. We need to nurture the blooms around us and grow with grace. The biblical meaning of bloom is about our hearts and our reconciliation relationship with God. </div><div><br /></div><div>I guess we need to accept where we are planted and bloom accordingly. Asking for guidance and help along the way. In other words, pull out the weeds and see the beauty of what is blooming around us.</div><div><br /></div><div>I just sold this little gnome painting and the Title was; " Live Life in Full Bloom". (My inspiration for this blog post)</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Z2B5ynfth0A/YR6DC35Nr8I/AAAAAAAADnc/RmuszmNPYkc9Yn0w4fzQweZ6wfAOO1IBgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_4662.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Z2B5ynfth0A/YR6DC35Nr8I/AAAAAAAADnc/RmuszmNPYkc9Yn0w4fzQweZ6wfAOO1IBgCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_4662.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div>The sunflower symbolizes faith and adoration for all. Every single flower is parallel to another, staying focused on purpose and position. They represent longevity, love and loyalty. To cultivate, nurture, that space on a daily basis and be thankful for the blooms that surround it! </div><div><br /></div><div>Until next time;</div><div><span style="color: #ff00fe;">Ursula xo</span></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>Ursula Wollenberghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16874880375868246072noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8289894434924242531.post-7630770325851768222021-07-30T08:12:00.003-07:002021-07-30T08:34:03.727-07:00The Essence of a Flower<h3 style="text-align: left;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-l5B--lg3HW4/YQQTw70UZFI/AAAAAAAADmc/jQ_jev8jmPM0IdWqmuzVlFDpIy4Sl26MgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_4517%2B2.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1378" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-l5B--lg3HW4/YQQTw70UZFI/AAAAAAAADmc/jQ_jev8jmPM0IdWqmuzVlFDpIy4Sl26MgCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_4517%2B2.jpg" width="215" /></a></div><br /> I had the pleasure of sitting in a on-line Zoom class with a local artist.
